frequently asked questions

Below you’ll find answers to the questions about our service,
security and the process we get asked the most.

what is your cost?

At Pointential, we make your points work for you. We charge a small fee to find and book the right flights for you. No two holidays are the same, which means there’s no fixed pricing for bookings.

One thing we can pretty much guarantee, however, is including our fee and all other costs, you should be able to fly business class at a minimum, for less or close to the same cost of an economy fare.

You will always know the total cost of booking before making the final decision.

what happens if my flight is cancelled and I miss my flight?

At Pointential we use your miles to book you flights on airlines through the airlines frequent flyer portal. When booked, your flights are confirmed and ticketed. If a flight is cancelled or you miss your flight, it is dependent upon airlines terms and conditions about what is the next step. It is worth mentioning that cancellations are certainly on the rare side. We can’t list every airlines policies on this website however we will certainly let you know what cancellation and other terms and conditions are relevant to your booking before you confirm your itinerary.

what makes pointential different?

You might have seen websites, mainly from overseas, claiming they can fly you business class for next to nothing.

Whilst this is certainly attractive for the most part what these companies do is book your tickets from a bulk pool of air miles, they have accumulated from who knows where. The problem with this is that it is against most airlines policies and you not only risk showing up to the airport and having them cancel your ticket, but you could also risk the airline shutting down your personal account with them.

The difference is that here at Pointential we use your miles, and your payment information to book your tickets.

The tickets are 100% confirmed and everything is above board. You therefore have no risk.

There are a few similar companies to us however most of them used a fixed pricing model, we base our fees on what is fair and how much work we had to put into the itinerary.

can you guarantee the flights I want?

Availability is governed by the airlines, and therefore never guaranteed. Flexibility and pre planning as best you can is a great way to guarantee your flights will be available.

For example, if you want to fly business class to Europe during the busy summer peak period with only two weeks notice.

It is certainly not impossible, however, it is certainly harder to get flights. However, if you are able to plan 6-7 months ahead your chances are much better.

why do you use my credit card?

Simply because there have been incidences where airlines require your credit card you made payment with at the airport before you get on a flight.

Therefore, in order to eliminate any potential problems or stress we use your information. It is also worth pointing out that by using your credit card YOU get the points associated with the booking and also any INSURANCE included in your credit card!

do you only book flights?

At Pointential we can organise everything to do with your trip, from flights to hotels, we even can organise discounted rates for chauffeur transfers (particularly handy if you are travelling in a large group or simply want to maximise your time at your destination)

Even if you aren’t using points for your whole itinerary at Pointential we have a lot of experience in how to book rates for as cheap as possible and with as many added perks as possible. If you want to maximise your value in a booking please ask us how we can help.

how many points do I need to travel in business/first?

We know it isn’t much of an answer, but it unfortunately really depends. It depends on the airline and when you want to go (as most airlines have saver redemptions at certain times).

if I get a credit card you recommend is it the best for my financial situation?

We are not financial advisors at Pointential. The credit cards we recommend are based purely of our perceived value of them simply as point accumulators. Whilst we consider the annual fee, points earning potential, redemption options etc. we do not consider if the financial product is good for your personal situation. Before applying for any credit card or financial product you should always consult your financial advisor or at least ensure the card it right for you before proceeding.
